While the four pillars of Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) are more commonly recognized, some organizations may use a slightly different framework that includes six pillars of inclusion and diversity.

These six pillars are:

Leadership commitment: This pillar focuses on creating a culture of inclusion from the top down. It involves leadership setting the tone for the organization, demonstrating a commitment to D&I, and holding themselves and others accountable for creating an inclusive environment.

Talent management: Talent management refers to attracting, recruiting, developing, and retaining a diverse workforce. This pillar involves creating policies and practices that remove barriers to entry and advancement for underrepresented groups.

Learning and development: This pillar focuses on providing training and development opportunities that enable individuals to develop their skill sets, advance their careers, and contribute to the organization’s success. It involves creating a culture of continuous learning and providing resources that support growth and development.

Employee engagement: Employee engagement refers to creating a workplace culture that fosters engagement, collaboration, and productivity. This pillar involves creating policies and practices that promote work-life balance, employee recognition, and psychological safety.

Supplier diversity: Supplier diversity involves doing business with diverse suppliers, including small businesses, minority-owned businesses, women-owned businesses, and veteran-owned businesses. This pillar involves creating policies and practices that promote supplier diversity and inclusion.

Community engagement: Community engagement involves creating partnerships and relationships with diverse communities, including underrepresented groups, to build trust and promote social responsibility. This pillar involves creating policies and practices that support community engagement and outreach.

These six pillars of inclusion and diversity are similar to the four pillars of D&I but provide a more comprehensive framework for organizations to create a diverse and inclusive environment.
